That feeling of ease you can't explain

"the calm feeling u can't explain, that comes out of no where, but gives you the sense that everything is going to be okay....no matter what the circumstances are..."

What is this phenomenon?  Well I call it that at least, because when it happens to me it  sure feels like one.   Some say it comes from this sixth sense we all have,  while others would argue it comes from some sort of higher power.  I haven't quite figured out which of the two I believe, but I'm thankful for it either way.

There have been a few times in my life that I've been granted the opportunity to experience this feeling.   Each time it's happened, some extremely stressful,  life altering event,  has me in a constant state of worry, fear, and panic.   Which then causes  all my thoughts and feelings to become engulfed in a constant state of sorrow.  And the fear of not knowing what's going to happen, not only gives physical pain, but feels like it's consuming your very soul.

Then all of a sudden out of nowhere it all stops.  The worry, fear, and sadness are just washed away, leaving a much needed relief in their wake.  You feel calm and for some reason you can't explain, just know everything's going to be okay.

The miracle is then displayed when everything turns out okay.  It's like your mind somehow knew what would happen, before the outcome was revealed.....

Just what's going on in my head today.... wanted to share to see if some others have experienced the same feeling.

Things I miss about highschool

Just watched the movie the to do list and it brought me back to my high school days.  Not that I made that kind of checklist in high school but it made me think of a list of the top five things I missed from those days.

1. My friends
This is my number one of course.  So many things get in the way of seeing my friends now a days.  Being two hours away sure doesn't help, but even if I was home things just get in the way when you get older. People get married and have these terrible things called responsibilities.  These responsibilities tend to keep us away from just carelessly hanging out like we use to get to do in high school.  That is what I miss the most.  Being able to call up my group of girls just to bullshit about meaningless drama that meant the world in those times.  Or being able to just go out and enjoy ourselves again without having to worry about bills, jobs, and husbands.  I'm lucky enough to still call most of my friends from high school BFF's but I need to make it a point to start hanging out with them more.  I'm sure my couch could use the break anyway.

2.  Allowance
This was pretty killer. I use to get 40 a week. That was enough to get my lunch during the week, keep gas in my car, and still left me enough for parties on the weekend.

3. No bills,
Ah the carefree life of no bills. No insurance, phone, credit card, mortgage, water, and energy bills piling up on my counter.

4. Sports.
When I wasn't with friends I was playing any sport I had time for. Basketball, volleyball, and softball consumed much of my life.  Sports gave me the opportunity of meeting several of my life long friends, and made me into the competitive crazy I am to day. :)

5.  Last but not least, W.H.S.
-The classes weren't hard, life was easy, and it was a place that required me seeing my friends five days a week :) What's not to love.

I don't for a second want to go back.  As it's in the past and given the chance there would be no way it'd be as great , but it's nice to reflect sometimes.

Quotes that changed my life

Three quotes come to my mind, that once heard changed my life forever.

1. Life isn't about finding yourself..it's about creating yourself.

So many people are always concerned about "finding themselves."  This quote taught me that only I could  create what I would become.  I wouldn't have the luxury of it falling into my lap.  It's one that has stuck with me throughout the years and I've even added a little tweak to the ending.
       "Life isn't about finding yourself...it's about creating yourself...and I'm working on a masterpiece :)"

2.  Friends overlook your broken fence and admire your garden

True friends and family never care about your material things on the outside.  This helped out a lot when I was struggling with finances.  Because the true friends were there for the good and the bad...no matter how bad the backyard got...:)

3.  Everything will be okay in the end...if it's not okay...it's not the end.

This is one that to this very day sits on a magnet attached to my work filing cabinet.  Without starring at this quote days upon end I don't think I would have survived 2012-2013.  To date these years were the worst of my life.  I won't go into detail, but it helped believing that no matter how much my life sucked, and no matter what shitty circumstances were thrown my way, it wouldn't end like that. Things would get better.   It's something so silly to believe in but I did then and still do now.

What quote changed your life?

Moving to GA

Recently accepted a promotion in GA, and it hasn't felt official until today.  I still have until the end of February left in Michigan, but I finally started looking at new homes today.  The cost of living seems to be less there, which is a bonus, more bang for my buck.  But of course I also read all the horrible blog posts, and articles about living in GA.  I knew it was probably going to be like Web MD, something you shouldn't ever look at unless you want to see the worst, but I couldn't help myself.  There were very few positives about living there, but I figure it's like restaurant review sites, people only take the time to comment if their pissed. So I'll give it a chance.  Not that I really have a choice now, but I guess I'm ready for the next chapter in my life to begin.  If anyone reading this has any incite or advise please share :)

Georgia:

Excited about:
-Being a boss lady for the first time
-Moving into a new home
-Meeting new friends

Not looking forward to:
-Traffic
-Snakes
-Being so far away from family and friends

Can't get this song out of my head since I've accepted the position lol, thank you Ray Charles.

Would the sixteen year old version of yourself kick your ass now?

Interesting question seen on twitter today.

Would the sixteen year old version of yourself, kick your ass now?

The answer to that question is yes.

Reasons why:

1. Sixteen year old me could bench 150, and make it up the stairs without running out of breath.

This then of course got me thinking back to my mindset at age sixteen.  My friends and I use to talk about where we would be around the age I am now.  Most of them said kids, marriage, and boring things like that.  My thoughts at sixteen are below.

First and foremost I thought I'd be single till at least age 30, because I was going to focus on other more important things.

Reality: I married my high school sweetheart at age 21

Second thought, which plays into the first: I figured I would be single so long because of my super successful career as a marketing executive.

Reality: Even though I did get my degree in communications and marketing, I work for an insurance company as a manager.

Last but not least I thought I would be making at least six figures by now

Reality: I'm about five digits off. :)

Sixteen year old me would be so pissed, but twenty six year old me is okay with it.  The dreams I had weren't bad, but I have a feeling they were slightly encouraged by terrible chick flicks.   In reality I'm happy with the success I've had.  I've been lucky in life so far, but I have to admit I'm still aiming for that six figure idea.  We'll have to just wait and see what 36 year old me has to say about that.

What I learned from disney movies

Completely random topic, but something I thought about today.  Recently I've read articles complaining that little girls are getting the wrong message from Disney movies.  That the image they get is that girls need to be rescued by a prince to live happily after.  I get why they say that, but in all honestly, that's not at all what I got from watching those movies as a child.

From little mermaid I learned that being different was okay, and you had to fight for what you wanted, even if it meant going against the grain.  From Beauty and the beast I learned that reading is cool, and knowledge is power.  To this day I strive to have a library as big as Bells in my home.  From Cinderella I learned that no matter how shitty your circumstances are, good things can happen to good people.  From the Lion King I learned that no matter what you did in the past, you always have to keep fighting for a better future.  Last but not least, I learned that I should never settle for someone who doesn't love me as deeply as I do them.  For in all the movies, the prince and princess fight for their lives and love of one another.

Not all will agree, but hey these are my thoughts and this is my blog :)  Comment away.

My favorite princess of course is....

Ouch...

Received the dreaded email today. Out of the fifty queries I sent out I got one request for a full manuscript.  At the time I jumped up and down and screamed a whole lot.  It was immediately followed by a month of my stomach twisting every time I got an email notification.  Today all of that ends, as I have received the rejection letter.  It was nice, but it doesn't make me feel any better.  Time to self publish.

Some scientists believe that higher levels of phaeomelanin may produce more mutations and dangerous effects when exposed to UV radiation.b
